During the activities fair, an email was sent to the entire freshmen class from the official President of SU's email address urging freshmen not to rush while erroneously conflating WashU GL to Alabama GL and generalizing the opinions of minorities. The president of SU, Ranen Miao, uniquely has access to email entire groups like this and used his power to push his own personal agenda. While the official policy of SU calls for the de-housing of fraternities, the email took a step beyond the position of SU and called for abolition. The members of SU who signed the email conspired to send this email without the knowledge or approval of the rest of SU. Their reasoning for this is that "not everyone gets looped in on every issue," yet specifically chose not to tell the head of the Campus & Residential Experience committee (which deals with equitable spaces, highly relevant to the GL issue) because he himself is not in support of AGL, along with not notifying other relevant people. When IFC/WPA inquired to Ranen Miao about getting the email list of freshmen to present their side of the story, they were denied.
