also, on going through as a sophomore, each chapter looks at that differently. Some don't care and are happy to take sophomores, some only take them if they are close friends with the chapter. If you didn't go through formal this year and want to try it as a sophomore, that's great! You can also tell your friends that joined this year next fall that you are interested in informal recruitment. Now, if you went through formal this year and either dropped out because you didn't like the houses you had back or SIP'd only one house after pref and didn't get a bid, going through again as a sophomore is a little different. I'll be blunt, unless something really changes in the next year, the houses that dropped you will probably drop you again. Now, if you have a ton of friends who got bids this year, they may be able to pull for you when they are sisters next year, but the chapter didn't think you were a good fit with them this year and you're unlikely to get an invite next year. As for which is better a better path to sorority life, it's all up to you. If you are just looking for a sisterhood and a mutual fit, and don't care about the tier stuff you find around here, then give COB a shot! If you are only want specific houses and it didn't work our in formal this year, both COB and going through as a Sophomore require a lot of the same things for you to get a different outcome than this year.
