you're totslly right that there's a time and place for everything. Some people just consider it being a try-hard because wearing preppy clothes and pastel colors is more commmonplace in the south and not so much in the northwest. and chubbies and american flag stuff is so overdone, that its considered a caricature and thats why people think its tryhard It's more common to see a guy wearing a southern tide pocket tee, pink vineyard vines shorts, sperrys and croakies in the south than it is here, which is why some people think it might be being a tryhard. but just dress for yourself. who cares.
