As far as the experience you have in a house, this is spot on. It’s all about how good a fit you are for a house and vice versa. People can be miserable in a top house and have the happiest time of their life in a bottom house. That said, there are definite rankings as far as clout/status and to some people these are important and it does matter - probably the same people who found popularity more important than forming true, lasting friendships in high school.
