My daughter wanted to go Greek. She has what I think are good reasons for joining: increased involvement on campus, more active social experience, having a support group when she's far away from home, and a chance to do community service. She should have been a good candidate: great grades, attractive, popular in school, with lots of extracurriculars. Despite being fiercely non-Greek during my own college experience, I've tried to be supportive. She didn't go into recruitment with pre-conceived ideas about what chapters she wanted, but after day 2 she had definite favorites, all of whom have cut her. The chapters who invited her back for house tours are all the lowest ranking. She hasn't paid attention to rankings, she "trusts in the process"--but I don't think she's going to get the experience she wants out these chapters. Is she going to hold it against me if I take a "it's not worth it, cut your losses and move on" position and recommend that she drop out of recruitment?
