I think you'd be better off waiting and doing COB next fall, FFR is already a tough process for any upperclassmen and people will find out that you rushed and dropped and will usually mark you down for it. There was a girl that pledged Tri Delt that dropped before initiation and then went through FFR this year and everyone knew, we didn't necessarily drop her because of it but we were definitely cautious, and I think she ended up withdrawing herself from the process. Depending on why you don't think your current house is a good fit you may be able to get a more genuine read on the people in a future house through COB where it's less formal and fake. You would also be better able to explain why you dropped before initiation on a COB date. For housing this year, if you can afford a sorority you can afford housing in U district. My room in a three bedroom apartment near campus costs $650 a month. Look on the UW housing page for people still looking for roommates and try to find a place to rent. You could even find a studio for ~$700 a month (although I wouldn't recommend that for freshmen year). Don't drop until you've found housing, and then email your president and she can process your withdrawal. Also keep in mind that if you've already signed a housing contract with your current sorority there could be penalties for breaking that as its a legal contract. In my house most of the new members have signed them already and it's basically like a lease.
