You can't go through recruitment, whether it's through COB or FFR until a full calendar year after you accepted the bid with the house you're in now (so bid day this past year), meaning you couldn't participate in next year's formal recruitment or COB until next fall quarter. So yeah, accepting the bid hurt your chances.
