I did recruitment this year as a sophomore, and I definitely would recommend it to someone above not joining at all, but I do wish I would have pursued COB. I was lucky and ended up in a house that I really like, but the process is very hard and I was dropped from 18 to 6 houses overnight. The reality is that being a sophomore does impact you negatively at a lot of houses. If you decide to rush next year, you will find houses that are open to sophomores and it will work out, however if you're interested now I say go for it! You get to have the experience sooner and hopefully save yourself some stress.
