<strong>Subject:</strong><br />The Truth about Sororities <br /><br /> Poster Message:
At VCU, the culture of sororities are so different compared to other state schools. People think because VCU is liberal everyone will be so accepting and understanding. Sorority sisters will act like that to your face and then talk behind your back. Many girls (including myself) ask themselves constantly if its even worth going through the emotional and financial pain of being in a sorority. The trade off is you want to feel a sense of belonging and that if you drop, you won’t have any friends. You will come to realize in most cases, 80% of the time you will not stay connected with more than 5 of your sisters post college. People always say that there is “a lifelong friendship and love” for your sisters but in reality half of them don’t wave hello to you when you see them on campus. The truth is you don’t need a toxic group of girls and a pair of Greek letters to make your status relevant. If you had a great Greek experience, that’s great but ask yourself, do I enjoy being around these people because I enjoy their company or am I doing this for the status? It’s okay to feel unsure but know you’re not out of the norm to question this.
