Plenty of girls from our huge high school with mediocre grades and literally NO honors or activities got bids because they were 'hot' or knew people. Two of the above got in top tier where one was suspended from school for 6 weeks for public drunkeness and the other arrested for the same. In fact those girls all got the ones everyone said were top and the '4.0 president of clubs' type mostly got mid or low tier, and a pretty, top 10 rank, hoco court type got cut by tops because she was a legacy. So having mediocre grades and no activities doesn't hurt a kit of girls. You are right that great grades and resume matter little either though unless you are pretty and know people. Plus you obviously need to be likable and friendly.
