Its not weird and she wasn't suggesting you creep on other people's social media. Just put it out on your own social media that you are rushing and looking for rec letters and see if you get responses. It is weird when you aren't raised around it, I understand why you would feel that way. But many girls do this that need rec's. No one will think you are weird or creepy. Just explain you are rushing you don't know anyone on campus and need help acquiring rec letters for sorority rush at UT. And as the poster up top said, contact local alumni chapters, they understand and you would be surprised how many people are willing to help out a stranger looking to rush and possibly become a future sister.
