People like to speculate on who got the best pledge class but it’s more complex than that. Obviously not every house goes after the same girls and instead there are small groups of houses that seem to compete with each other. Here’s how I see it: (and I’m not listing these in any type of ranking order) Adpi pretty much gets whoever they want. I know people love to say they’ve fallen and aren’t top tier, etc. but I’ve worked on the other side of recruitment and I’ve seen the numbers. You can’t deny that they have the highest return rate every year. They rarely worry about losing a top girl to another chapter. Tri delt and KD have seemed to compete for the same group of girls in more recent years. These chapters are big with in state girls. I think phi mu and DZ recruit from a very similar pool of girls- mostly from Nashville. AXO recruits from a more diverse group and doesn’t compete directly with one chapter. They put on a strong recruitment year after year. If PNMs went in to recruitment more open minded and less biased, I think AXO would have one of the higher return rates. Unfortunately girls will love AXO but pick another chapter just for the “name” or legacy of it at UT. But I think AXO gets closer and closer to the top each year. Chi o and aopi historically have competed for the same girls and still do to this day. Like the exact same girls. You could join either chapter and have the same experience in my opinion. And chi O’s recruitment is helped by just the simple fact that chi omega is the biggest sorority in the country and a lot of girls strive to be part of the organization as a whole rather than considering just the individual chapter. ZTA is similar to AXO in the strong girls they recruit and not competing directly with any one house. Phi beta phi and sigma kappa both get girls who go into recruitment with less bias or maybe less connections. They get girls who care more about being apart of the sorority/sisterhood experience than just the “name” and their sisterhoods are strong because of it. Lots of out of state girls for this reason. And dg and kkg recruit similarly. A lot of girls end up choosing between these two chapters.
