Every fraternity at any school is going to require that you put in effort to prove that you will be a committed brother but there are definitely some chapters that take that too far. For example Lambda Chi at UT was suspended this spring mainly because of hazing allegations. I'm not going to get into any other specific chapters because many times their pledgeship processes change depending on who is in leadership but I would definitely recommend that you try and reach out to members of different fraternities and ask some of them about their experiences. They won't tell you specifics but you should be able to get a feel for how pledgeship was a positive(or negative) experience for them.
