This is advice that seems well thought out and mature, but it’s actually fairly terrible. 5 years post-college,the vast majority of people will have basically no connection to their fraternity or sorority and definitely won’t put it on a resume because that’s generally considered to be a bad idea except when applying for jobs directly out of college. Your professional network will be based on contacts you meet within your field. So, while the advice posted tried to come off as “it’s important to look at the big picture,” it is very short-sighted in reality. You should choose your chapter based on WHERE YOU FEEL THE MOST COMFORTABLE. Not based on contacts you’ll make, tier, national rep (all pha & ifc chapters have good national rep anyway).......go where you feel you belong. Period, end of story. The rest will work itself out.
