Everyone will have a different opinion on this. Personally i would rather be gdi than in a bottom tier, but that's just me. It's not to say there are no positives to being in a sorority that isn't "top" but, for me, the negatives outweigh the positives. You can create lasting friendships,have tons of friends, and participate in amazing clubs/groups/athletics without being in a sorority, ESPECIALLY at USF where Greek life isn't a big huge thing. Being in a top sorority here truly is a bit different and the social opportunities seem more substantial and there is a certain appeal, if you're into that sort of thing. I say this as a girl who got cut and ended up in a low-mid as a freshmen. I stayed in most of my first year but it always felt a little off to me, like I wasn't having a lot of fun but I was pretending to, and I knew people in other chapters who were clearly not pretending . It' is difficult to explain, but as a lower tier I always felt like I was pretending to live the stereotypical Greek life but I wasn't. DISCLAIMER: this is my personal experience and I realize it's not the same for everyone! Some people LOVE being in non-top-tier sororities and fraternities and probably don't feel this sense of "pretending" that I did. I have friends and acquantiinces in almost every sorority and many of the fraternities and everyone has a different perspective. I would encourage you to go through rush and be open-minded, but be true to yourself
