Ladies – what are we doing here? Comparing “hotness” on an anonymous Internet message board? Don’t we have better things to do in the year 2017? I think we can all agree that USD is home to many incredibly beautiful, intelligent, warm, caring and successful women – and a strong Panhellenic is one that finds home for as many as would like to join. By it’s very nature, recruitment is subjective – and yes, some houses may have much more experience in marketing the attractiveness of their members, and others may have some members that are less polished when they join. But tearing each other down (or letting the frats do the same) does not benefit ANY of us as women. Because most of us are counting on our education at USD to propel us further in our careers and/or further education, where we want to be taken seriously for our brains and capabilities…not our looks. So, for now we should all be happy with our own wonderful PCs and be proud because they truly are the best – but there is no need to tear our sister sororities newest babies down or rank their relative hotness. Only time will tell the impact that this years PC will have on each of our houses and the University as a whole. Kudos to this year’s Panhellenic officers and amazing Sigma Rho Chis – who did an amazing job of convincing pnms to stay in the recruitment process even as they had been cut from their favorite houses. I can only hope that this standard of recruitment/training is upheld in future years.
