The annual wave of nasty posts and rumors is already here, so before formal recruitment starts here are some reminders -every single sorority is smart, gorgeous, unique, and accomplished -every sorority goes to parties, has amazing philanthropy events, gives back to the community, and is involved at Pitt. No matter where you end up, you will have a packed social calendar ranging from date parties to service events. -each one has unique, driven, intelligent, and beautiful sisters -instead of using recruitment to tear each other down, it should be a time of celebrating PNM’s finding their new homes at Pitt -recruitment is all about trusting your gut and going where, at the end of the day, you can see yourself! I went into recruitment thinking about each sorority as “who would I feel most comfortable with drinking wine in my pajamas watching a movie with no makeup, and being my authentic self?” This helped me find the perfect fit for me :) all of my best friends are in different sororities, and it reflects how we each found different places for ourselves to grow and flourish. Rankings are a way for people to hijack female unity and empowerment by trivializing sororities down to their looks and social events. Placing a chapters value on their appearance and amount of partying destroys the entire point of panhellenic life, which is to create a fulfilling and memorable college experience with sisters who help you grow and become the best version of yourself. People love pitting women against each other and hate to see us lift each other up. End of story.
