I fear my school will put me at a disadvantage, despite any other qualities I have. I chose to go there anyway for the quality of education/proximity to home thinking I could start anew in college...it's not like I wanted to spend the day driving across the river when I could get the same quality of education closer to home. In hindsight, I realized that neither my school nor peers placed any value on networking or things of that sort. I'm a bit anxious about this now. I thought my family (not from VA at all)/interests/background/connections/sports/sociability/overall type would help. I go to a decent public school in a suburb, but if that's the only factor you look at, I feel like I'm screwed...it's in NOVA. NOVA…soccer mom-minivan-middle management capital of the mid atlantic. How damning is that? When you consider someone's school as a factor, how do you do it? Do you guys cut PNMs based on where they went to school? Would it be possible for me to omit the name of my school on that online greek application thing? Tell me there is hope for me at a highly respected, more traditional sorority here. I'm not exactly bad looking either.
