How do you get into a very good house here if you went to a northern virginia public school? A lot of you are probably reading this rolling your eyes, but bear with me: I know that at many universities, there's kind of a caste system that dictates who has mixers with whom, who talks to whom, and how often. It can work to chapters' advantage or disadvantage. At UVA, are decisions made during recruitment about connections and family, or about looks-grades-sociability? I just don't want to be written off by great houses because I went to a public high school. Surprise, surprise...I'm not middle class. And I definitely don't really want to pledge where girls from my school have. I don't want to be stuck based on something so arbitrary. Any advice? How much do alumni recommendation letters from strong southern chapters help?
