UVA Greek life is somewhat less intense/southern as compared to Texas, Alabama, etc. But, some sororities concentrate on things you mentioned. "Top tier" houses look more at what school you're from and where you come from. For example, Kappas and Thetas usually are from private schools like Collegiate in Richmond so they usher in their friends from lower years. Kappa, Theta, and TriDelt especially like girls from out of state, particularly the southern states. DG and APhi take a lot of nova public school girls. The rest of the sororities are usually a mixed bag, which is good and bad.
