For UVA sororities to increase their membership diversity, women of color need to decide to go THROUGH RECRUITMENT. But there are reasons that they don’t. Of course some do and I’m sure some drop out. It could be that the perception of “all-white” UVA sororities factor in. So perhaps making an effort to attract ALL groups of women to rush would help. Also , many women of color choose to join traditionally-black sororities. Also, some of the older, more established and perhaps sought-after groups take MANY members from alumnae recommendations and sisters’ friends. Sadly, those probably include mostly white women But could a bigger effort to include a more diverse sisterhood be made—ABSOLUTELY!!
