Already knowing people, or knowing of them, is not dirty rushing. Of course sorority members are going to favor girls they already know or know something about. High school, home town, summer camp, somebody's younger sister's friend, friends of friends, daughters of parents' friends, there are lots of connections. It's not dirty. Sororities aren't honor societies; they're social organizations where relationships are just as important as resume or looks or whatever. A sorority is always going to choose the known person over the unknown when it comes down to it. If you feel disadvantaged for not having a connection, that doesn't make it dirty.
