Just to be real here, it does matter for the first few years at school. The reason being is because of the parties. Having access to fun themed parties that have free beer, ice luges, maze boxes, and great DJs? Non-Greek life parties just are not the same with the same resources. Now as you become a third year and fourth year those parties will obviously become cringey since no one your age goes to them, not even the brothers (unless it is a date function). But the higher tier you are, the more access you have. That is a truth. Now does that mean a Sammy party is inherently worse than a Hall party? No. The Hall sucks lol. I am just making the point that being in a higher tier increases access, and being in Greek life increases access to fun parties early on. It is better to be in Greek life than not, and if you are in Greek life, it is better to be in a higher tier if you care about going to all the big “wild” parties.
