Subject:
first years who are dropping

Poster Message:
Cuts are huge between house tours and prefs so I’m so sorry if you saw your schedule today and we’re disappointed. This happened to me last year as a first and I was absolutely devastated. Here are some things I had to find out the hard way that I hope will help some of you:) I would still recommend going to both rounds because you never know how you may feel if you give them another chance. That being said, I did go to both of my prefs last year and still felt miserable and ending up dropping. If you still really want to join a sorority here, on Monday you should absolutely contact girls you know in ones you want to join (upperclassmen or new members) and let them know you’re very interested in a COB! Very few are given out so don’t get your hopes up, but hey you never know. Snap Bids are given out by sororities on bid day before cards are opened up and if you receive one, you are the only one in your pc who will know about it. Snap Bids are even rarer!! So few are given out! If none of this works, your next option would be to try informal recruitment in the fall. This can be hard to wait for because you won’t have any idea what sororities are doing it till the first or second week of classes. In the meantime, do you best to keep up genuine friendships with sorority girls. Let them know you’re interested without being too pushy so they don’t get annoyed. NEXT, if that doesn’t work, consider formal recruitment as a second year. There is an upperclasmen quota so you won’t be competing against first years for spots. The first two things I listed didn’t work for me, but today I’m preffing at two upper mids and I’m thrilled!!! I was so much more prepared and confident this time. I really grew as a person through the year and i has a completely different experience in recruitment this year, even with no contacts in either of the ones I’m going to today! However, my roommate this year also rushed for a second time this year and had a very different experience. She ended up dropping with the same two she had for prefs last year and hated. Recruitment as a second year can be very difficult, so manage your expectations but know that a better outcome can be possible! good luck ladies
