Do not kid yourself. They can point to all the safety and moral issues they want, but ultimately these alcohol-free policies are about MONEY $$$!! Fraternities have lost MILLIONS of DOLLAR$ in lawsuits plus lost revenues in membership because of these alcohol-related deaths, often mixed with hazing. Think what a couple $10 million dollar payoffs can do to a fraternity’s overal financial standing, including housing and scholarship funds. So yes, a small part is about it being “the right thing to do”. But a bigger part is about the fraternity itself remaining fiscally solvent enough to simply function.
