<strong>Subject:</strong><br />snap bids vs cobs<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Clearing up some confusion because it seems like most people have no idea what they're talking about! Snap bids are ONLY given out on bid day and are over and done. Your next chance to get a snap bid is next January after formal recruitment 2020. COBs can be given out whenever a sorority wants to. They can give them out this semester or they can give them out next semester. Either way, those new members will be joining this year's pledge class. Last year, my chapter gave out some COBs right after recruitment, and reserved a few for the fall semester. This is totally based on the chapter/recruitment chair and what they want to do. Some chapters prefer to do all their COBs soon after bid day so they can integrate the new girls into the pledge class quickly. If you are interested in a COB, USE YOUR CONNECTIONS. Contact your friends in sororities you like and ask them if their chapter is doing COBs. At least in my chapter, it does not matter at all how far you got with us during formal recruitment. You meet with our RC for a chat and she decides if you'd be a good fit in the new pledge class based on that. Express clearly to your friend that you're interested in a COB from her sorority. She can recommend you directly to her RC and they should reach out to you to set up a meeting. Not sure if this COB process is generalizable to all chapters but this has been my personal experience with COBs. Good luck to everyone hoping for a COB! We all know recruitment sucks and you're probably sad right now but don't lose hope.
