I'm glad it worked out for you and I know it does work out for some people, but I really wish I hadn't listened to advice like this. I chose to not do informal and wait for formal rush because people told me it would work out, and now I'm not in a sorority and have basically no options left for joining one which really sucks. I would just caution transfers about assuming that formal is a fair process for them because I don't think it is.
