If you're on this site as a PNM trying to get information about recruitment, please read. Few stereotypes that need to be broken: - Will houses ask what your parents do? NO. If it happens, it's probably just because it came up in conversation. No girl will intentionally ask what you're parents do to see how much money you have. - Now do some girls care about how much money you have? Sure, but thats life. Some people care about pretentious stuff like that and you just have to deal with it. - Will it hurt my chances to get into a house if I'm not rich? No! If you can afford to go to KU and go through recruitment, you're doing just fine. - Do letters of recommendation matter? Sure. Are they the most important thing? NO! But they can help, especially if it's from a respected alumni of that chapter. - Do houses predetermine their pledge class? NO! Do girls probably make a list of girls that they want? SURE! But nothing is set until you turn in your pref card. - Do rankings matter? Yes and no. You need to understand it is likely you will have a very different college experience based on the tier of house you are in. (For example, a lower tier sorority will probably never be paired with a top house fraternity for bid day parties, homecoming, rock chalk revue, etc.) But is that important to you? You need to decide for yourself. Remember the reason you are joining a sorority. Stay true to YOUR values and choose a sorority that will help YOU become a better woman.
