rec letters honestly don't matter that much at KU, but they're still good to have! You can get them from anyone who is an alum of the chapter from any school, they don't have to just be from KU alums! you mail those through the addresses on the KU Panhellenic website, or the alums will usually know what to do with them. With the whole rush process, you just have to trust the process. The first couple of days you don't really have a say in where you end up going. You will rank them, but the ranking mostly comes from the houses. You don't really have a total say until pref, but they'll go over that more when you're rushing! Being from out of state definitely puts you at a disadvantage compared to KC girls who know upperclassmen in the top houses, but there are still plenty of girls who get bids from "top houses" they didn't have many connections to. There's nothing wrong with being in a middle or bottom house, it's just a good way to make friends! You also register for rush through the KU Panhellenic website, which I think opens may or june and you have to do it by like august 1st I think!
