1. Previously established connections. With only so many spots, actives will be fighting during membership selection about whose best friend is a better fit. It is possible to get in with no connections, but you need to have a high GPA, good looks and good personality -- a lot of depends on who you meet at the door the first day, she can make or break you returning. 2. GPA/Good looks. Some houses value one over the other, it also depends on who you meet at parties. One active might be wanting to up the overall GPA, while another wants prettier sisters. Or maybe one wants singers and dancers for Rock Chalk Revue. Often times, the cliques within sororities will talk about what they want out of PNMs, and then they make a point to seek that out and score those girls higher. 3. Reputation/Sense of Humor/Personality -- Top houses don't want a girl who brings baggage and is a risk. Everyone likes people who can make them laugh. And if you can't hold a conversation, nobody is going to want you because they would have nothing to talk about. 4. Family resources -- it is a factor. Houses want to know that you are going to stick with it for four years, and finances can play part in that. If they present financial info, don't acted shocked and don't ask too many questions. You need to decide for yourself in private if you can afford it.\n\n\n\n\n
