No single sister, or even group of sisters, knows where someone is on a bid list unless she is the recruitment chair or maybe president. It's a best guess otherwise. If you went to pref, you are somewhere on their bid list, but maybe not in thier top quota list. Bid matching- if quota is 59, panhel's algorithm goes down KKG's bid list and if the first 59 on their list also list KKG first, then that's their pledge class. If number 2 lists DG first and is also in DG's top 59, and number 60 on KKG's list has KKG first, then number 2 goes to DG and number 60 goes to KKG. And so on, though you can imagine how this gets all sorts of crazy quickly. Everyone hopes it will be a girls first choice, there is never a guarantee, and only two or three people at a chapter know where you are on the list. Also, PNMs don't drop a chapter. You can list your top # of chapters for each round, but the others are still your back-ups and never actually dropped. Panhel sets strict numbers on how many girls each chapter can invite back each round based on their return rates from last year (how many PNMs they wanted each round who also wanted to return to them), so chapters with high return rates cut more PNMs each round. Adding Theta made them guess how it would effect return rates and skewed it so lower numbers of girls were at some pref parties than in the past which in turn effected how many were on bid lists, and some of the matching, etc. I have a friend at another school that had this problem when adding a chapter to formal last year and it was fixed this year so hopefully Pannel will work it out.
