What a lot of girls didn't realize with the AXO interviews is that they wanted a mix of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors so that everyone wouldn't graduate at the same time. There were WAY more freshmen girls interviewing, so it was much more competitive for freshmen. Try to meet girls in each house this year, and get alumni recs if you can before recruitment next year.
