Having friends in the house that you want can't hurt but make sure that they (and you) honestly think you would be a good fit for that house. Keep in mind that they aren't the only ones voting on you as well so even if they all vote for you, some still might vote against- or not even against you but just put the freshmen as higher which will push you out of the bid list. It really all depends on so many factors that it is hard to tell.
