You can't just "drop something" that you swore your solemn oath to uphold - your fraternity is a choice you made for the rest of your life. I'm not surprised that this question is being asked, however. I'll bet this guy "broke up" via text message with his girlfriend. Good luck with future marriages, military commitments or any situation that requires you to make a promise, oath or vow. Furthermore, another fraternity is unlikely to want you as a member (if you were honest with them). Brothers aren't quitters. Best choice? Be a man, go back to that chapter and help make it the best it can be or contact the national HQ of that fraternity and ask to be suspended. Either way, if you indeed a man of integrity, you cannot join another college fraternity, except honors or professional societies.
