Me and a couple of my friends are RGs this year, here is what we think based on what PNMs were saying. Exceeded Expectations: AXO: PNMs seems to love this house, lots of girls talking about them and many excited to keeping seeing them on their schedules. Maybe just our groups but a lot of girls going here through rush and many ending up there at pref. Tri Delta: Seemed to do better than past years. Probably because of the huge amount of PNMs but did see more girls going there and actually considering it. I think many knew they were lucky to get a bid in general and would rather be TriDelt over not being Greek. Hopefully a new class can bring in more excitement into the house. Lots of PNMs were really impressed with their house tour. Chi O: Lots of girls interested and excited about the house. They seemed genuinely connected to the house and the actives. The house seemed like they focused more on their sisterhood rather than their rank and it worked out great for them. Surprisingly lots of girls ranking them over DG. Theta: Same as ChiO, seemed to really focus on their sisterhood and friendships. Lots of PNMs were really excited about Theta and absolutely ranking them above Kappa, GPhi, TriDelt. Lots of girls loved their philanthropy too. Performed as Expected: Pi Phi: I think we already knew pi phi was going to knock it out of the water and they did. I think because of the number of PNMs girls were more realistic with their chances of getting a piphi bid and they seem to almost expect to get dropped so they weren’t too sad when it happened. The girls that did pref PiPhi were so excited and really hoping for the bid GPhi: I think they did just enough. They seemed to recruit the more shy and academic girls that are a bit less social. I think those PNMs really felt comfortable there but they didn’t do much to try and get PNMs that don’t already fit their stereotypes. I think they might naturally pick up some more social girls that only had them and trident just because of the stigma and not because they provided anything special to those PNMs. Didn’t meet expectations: A Phi: Usually are very exclusive in who they recruit but some of the actives seems like they want to change that. Some actives were more focused on social aspects while others were trying to focus on sisterhood and PNMs were getting mixed signals especially when talking to multiple actives. I think PNMs that usually fit their type still really liked them but they efforts to get more sisterhood focused girls did quite work. Saw a lot of girls cross rushing with Kappa but because of their status they were still ranking APhi first. DG: Seemed to only do okay this rush. I think alot of the typical girls they go for saw more impressive efforts from the middle tier houses especially ChiO, AXO and Theta and sometime ranked those houses over DG. Some PNMs really liked the house and the girls but lots in our groups were more neutral to them. Kappa: So so so many girls got cut right away, I think they tried to be more exclusive with inviting girls back but it backfired. The girls that did get Kappa back seemed to be girls cross rushing with APhi, Girls rushing another middle house that they preferred or girls with Kappa and GPhi or Tri Delt. I think they lost a lot of girls to the other middle houses and also got APhis seconds. I think girls with GPhi and Tridelt were really excited about Kappa though and ranked them 1st, I think a few of them were Kappa or bust too.
