Yes, letters of rec and legacy forms are very helpful! like what was said above, the meaning of these factors vary from house to house but in any case, a girl going through rush will get literal x amount of points in Cal's rush electronic ranking system if she is a legacy or has a letter of recommendation. these can only help you in the long run and if you are a legacy, DEFINITELY provide that information. If you can provide a reference from a friend who is in that chapter at cal or another school, that is very helpful as well! for example, some chapters have a rule that states that they MUST let a legacy through x amount of days of rush... aka they really aren't allowed to drop a legacy on the first day etc. BUT THIS VARIES FROM CHAPTER TO CHAPTER if you aren't a legacy or don't have a recommendation letter, don't sweat it. MOST of the girls going through rush don't provide anything and everything usually works out in the long run.
