I agree with the poster that said to do your own due diligence on the national group. There are I think 26 NPC organizations and each has a slightly different operating style (for lack of a better description). I also think you can tell alot about an organization when you see it operating through a difficult and challenging situation as happened here at Cal. AOII national has worked through some difficult and challenging situations at a number of schools across the country and the most neutral way I can say it is the results have been mixed and quite controversial. I do think one of the claims that has me quite upset about this particular national is the claim of self-dealing on the real estate side via the outside real estate management company that is owned by husbands of AOII management (think this description is correct but correct me if I'm wrong). Real estate is one of the major expenses of any chapter and so to hear claims like these has me quite leery of the entire national to tell you the truth. Also, the national has the reputation of imposing high fees and dues on members. This entire fee/dues issue is playing out right now at the new Michigan chapter where many people dropped AOII because of high dues/fees and live in costs that were neary 1,000$ higher than other chapters. The national also supposedly promised the Michigan new members that dues/fees would drop over time and they unfortunately haven't. So, there is a feeling of bait and switch at Michiga
