@agree, just tell me where this 4th generation student is expected to go? If they were born here, and as you suggest, if their parents were born here, they likely no longer have a life in the country they came from. This student's grandparents might have risked everything to come to this country DECADES ago. If they were deported, they would have nowhere to go. It's unfortunate they had to come here illegally but I imagine a 4th generation undocumented immigrant who grew up in America thinks of this place as home. They would be completely lost in their great-grandparents' country of origin. And I am sure ALL these immigrants are dying to get citizenship -- no one wants to be "illegal". Don't you think that if an undocumented family can't get citizenship even after 4 generations, there might be something wrong with the system?
