I think all the discussion here is good and positive. I have to think long and hard about whether non participation can solve anything ever. How will anything ever change if people drop and never stand up to vote. You don't get to vote on change from the outside. I realize you were hurt by an imperfect system. But what system is ever perfect? Prior generations of women fought hard to be heard on a variety of topics in many arenas so that women today have choices. I respect your choice to be an independent but know you did it for yourself and in no way are you helping generations to come! How can anything change without smart articulate minorities in the system who are willing to stand up and be counted. I hate to say it but you lost your vote when you left. Change is never easy or comfortable. Look up stories about women that were in the first classes at previously all male schools and what they experienced. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy and who ever advised you to quit did you a huge disservice and a huge disservice to our community. I know by how passionately you feel about your experience that would have been a wonderful change agent. So sorry to not have met you at a panhel meeting rather than on a message board!
