So should we just accept our place in certain houses and be content? Not sure that works as many houses have become known as " bottom houses" just cause it's less white. I refuse to participate in a system that allows this. My cause is myself and it begins with ourselves. You don't acknowledge that the recruitment is biased! It's totally biased! If I got a "bottom house" fair and square I would take it. But I can tell you that my background dictated the choices I got. There are others who didn't get their top picks. In my case I can tell you that I fit the bill for a " top house" in every way except that I'm not the right race! Even my white friends know it and admit to it! In fact I hang out with a group of white girls who all interestingly ended up in "top houses" when I'm absolutely matched with them in looks and personality! So, I dropped out of a system that I consider prejudiced. Why should I participate in a system that treats people unfairly? Most other non minority girls get dropped because they're either not socially a good fit for the house. That was not the case with me. I was in ASB at a large school. I've worked at a name brand high end retail store. I have a good GPA. I'm considered attractive. I've got great communication and social skills. what are the chances that out of all my friends I'm the only minority and the only one who didn't get my first, second or third pick? Hmmm I smell a rat. I refuse to allow myself to quietly accept what's dished out to me!
