It can be incredibly superficial, and expensive. You can also meet the coolest people ever who just want to have a good time in a fun city. It really depends on your attitude and financial situation. Some people can go to brunch and get boats and whatever every weekend, and trying to “keep up” can make you broke. But, you can still party, club etc without all that, you just can’t get down on yourself because you can’t get $100 dinners every week. Bottom tier srat girl here, happily, and I have a lot of friends in deeph and ya know? I’m happy I didn’t get that bid because I couldn’t have afforded all of the extras, let alone the non-sorority related social stuff like brunch and bottles. But, if you’re not worried about designer stuff and being considered top tier, there’s sooo many cool and fun people here, and it’s an incredible city. You just need a good head on your shoulders to enjoy it. Ok, novel over, take what you will. Going to UM was by far the best choice I ever made.
