There are kind girls in every house, and there are not-so-kind girls in every house. Fwiw, I chose a “mid tier” house over a “top tier” assuming that everyone would be nicer (among other reasons), and for the most part, the girls in my house are some of the kindest, most genuine, funny, and caring people I’ve ever met. But a non-trivial proportion of the girls seem to care more about social climbing than making sure everyone feels welcome and accepted. I’ve met a similar mix of girls in every single sorority—some who are wonderful, and some who aren’t very nice. So this might not be a very helpful answer, but just try to trust your instincts during rush, and after that, make friends with the other girls who share your values. You’ll find your people! :)
