Yeah sure! First of all, if you are in love with pi phi and your gut is telling you that’s your chapter, listen to it. BUT if you are torn then yeah I’ll answer some of your questions and would tell you that taking the other bid may be safer for a few reasons. Pi phi has some GREAT girls though but since you asked about the downsides I’ll be honest here -you have a bid in hand, and if you wait you need to really be set on pi phi and be ok if you don’t get a bid even though that’s unlikely. Because rushing in the spring after turning down a bid will probably be difficult -only go pi phi if you LOVE pi phi. Because they are new and that means a lot of work. The fact is they are small, and they have tried to suggest they’re “selective” but that comes with issues. Sororities here need a certain amount of people to function easily. Their fines were much higher than others for sisters missing recruitment because they needed all hands on deck. I’ve heard of them requiring or pressuring people to go to mixers to keep up appearances w the frats, etc. - kinda like I alluded to before, they have just done some stuff that rubs other people in the panhell community the wrong way and a decent enough portion or the chapter cares a little too much about their reputation and climbing. I know big girls in pi phi, but they aren’t on the Instagram. They didn’t meet quota during recruitment, but didn’t want people to know they gave snap bids. Yik yak and greek rank that week were flooded with posts about how great pi phi was. Quite a few girls in their last PC have dropped Again, that’s pretty much the negatives cuz that’s what you asked for but on the flip side they are new, there is a lot of leadership potential there and they genuinely got some great, great girls that may not have considered greek life otherwise and it has a lot of potential. These issues are pretty park for the course with colonies. But they’re dealing w being a new chapter and that’s a different commitment in some ways than joining any of the other sororities here.
