Take Sigma Chi and Pike. For whatever reason, they seem to have a feud going on. Lots of people say it's because they're the best. But where animosity among many college guys comes from is generally competition and rejection. They have been the most selective, statistically, for the past two or three years. That's well known. Pike prides themselves upon it and actively uses it to recruit and while Sigma Chi doesn't boast as strongly, they do not hide the fact that many will not get bids to the fraternity. Rejection creates strong feelings. If you want something and you not only don't get it, but you can never have it, you're gonna be pissed off. It's just not that hard to figure out. What do pissed off people do when they possibly have other allegiances and someone who their anger is directed at? They do something. And in this era, who doesn't vent on the internet?
