I'm in a chapter here already but my best friend was a founding member of her sorority at a large state school. Being a founding member can be an amazing experience but you need to make sure it's what you want: 1) It's a great idea if you want leadership because you're setting the tone for your new chapter 2) No established rep on campus. This can be a good thing or bad thing depending on who you are 3) It takes a lot of work to make the chapter successful. Founding members do drop when they realize how much work it is. But the work can be so rewarding 4) You'll have way more oversight from nationals than an established chapter would. Again, this can be a good or bad thing 5) Sometimes founding chapters feel a bit random because nationals is picking. They're also picking a range of years so that they have more established girls vs all freshmen Hope that helps!
