No. The majority of fraternities do not have houses. Also having houses or not doesn't seem to make a difference in terms of desirability or social ranking. I'm going to be honest. A lot of times it is the chapter forcing sophomore guys to live in the house to have a "campus presence." A lot of times guys in Sig Chi or Pi Kapp would rather live in Red Road woth their friends in Sig Ep or be near their girlfriends. Also there's a ton of rules in on campus housing that are wack. A lot of bros would rather just live off campus and not worry about their bongs.
