I just transferred from a school that had what you would consider a much more classic Greek system and you couldn’t pay me enough to go back. I wasn’t in a sorority there though I plan on rushing here so idk what it’s like to be in one but I can tell you that even though lots of people here are more into the clubbing culture the frats at Um throw down a lot harder then they do elsewhere. I only go clubbing on occasion since I’m underage and prefer frat guys to the randoms who will grab you in a club so I also rather go to parties; even as a girl who just got here and isn’t in Greek life I’ve always been able to find a frat party when I want to go out, and the fact that some frats will buy tables and take you clubbing is just a bonus. I’d stick around if I was you, I’m guessing based on the people I do know in Greek life at UM that being in a sorority is a blast and I know that beyond the open parties that happen all the time frats and sororities mix often during the week for wine Wednesday’s and stuff like that. Plus in a sorority at UM you’re less likely to deal with a horrible standards chair who won’t let you have any fun at said frat parties. Just a perspective from someone who’s seen the other side and went there thinking it would be something that it wasnt. Another thing to consider is that at many large state schools, especially in he south, rushing as a sophomore or transfer from out of state is a guaranteed cut from a lot of sororities first round and the ones girls end up left with often aren’t the ones they want. For comparison, Chi Omega would have easily been upper middle tier at my old school. Not that I think tiers matter, but I’ve seen the situation happen enough times to know it’s a valid thing to think about
