As a graduating senior my advice is: Don't rush for the brotherhood. You should only take that at face value, it IS NOT more than skin deep. Don't believe what the chapters tell you at rush(remember these are the same guys that will swear that they are also dry, meaning they don't drink, and that they don't haze!) There is no such thing as true botherhood at the UCR frats. Some guys will swear undying loyalty one minute and then won't even show up to give you a ride. This goes for sororities too. Not true?Think of all the kids with DUIs on campus. Where were their brothers/sisters? Don't believe me? Ask a local police officer. The only thing you should be rushing for is social status(parties/fun/networking/formalevents/etc). Individual friendships do happen but that is inevitable and just because your pledge bro is your best bud DOES NOT mean the whole chapter feels that way about you. If I could go back I'd rush only the top houses that have multiple local and regional chapters(top house for the parties, the higher the number of chapters=more members=more chances of networking & securing a job postgrad). Pluck some courage and go up to the good looking girls at letters and ask them. Plus rushing a chapter like Fiji/PhiPsi will also get you into their parties at other schools(USC/UCLA are worth the drive out trust me). You're only an undergrad once and before you know it,you'll be done. So why not enjoy the best parties possible? Why not take the opportunities to network
