Question about recs

I do have several recommendations from various people to most all the sororities. If however, and there are some groups that I cannot find anyone that belongs to them, then I assume that if they are really interested in me they will locate a rec on me themselves, right? My friend said that most of the groups have alums walking around meeting girls so that they can write a rec if they need one, is that enough? I also have several distant cousins that are in sororities at other schools, should I list them so that I can be a distant type legacy, or is that just strictly for those with moms and sisters?
