Believe me, there are plenty that go through this! Thank you for your input! I got dropped from my favorite also (my mom's sorority that I wanted) and I thought seriously about just dropping out completely the third day. I called my mother crying and heartbroken and she drove 3 hours to be with me. We decided that I would think about it and if wanted to quit, we'd go home the next day. She told me something that made me think hard (mom's are like that). When she pledged her sorority, she had wanted another and she had cried and her mom (my grandmother was not in a sorority) told her "at least someone did want you, look at them and not then one who dropped you". She did and now she told me the same thing as @Agree2's mom told her. I realized it was time to grow up and it was my decision. I stayed and pledged a wonderful group. I also found that this happens to so many girls! I cannot say it enough, "Come with your heart open, you may not get who you came for, but there may be another sorority just waiting for you." My best friend who is beautiful and a double legacy got nothing and she was crushed. She ended up getting really involved in several organizations. She will never get over the ordeal, but she still enjoyed college life. Being in a sorority is only part of that situation. There are so many opportunities on campus to find friends that if the sorority wish falls through, you can still be happy. Many do!
